National Wills Week 2026

National Wills Week 2026

Your wishes. Your legacy. Clearly protected.

National Wills Week | 14–18 September 2026

Van Wyks Inc is proud to participate in the Law Society of South Africa’s National Wills Week 2026.

From 14 to 18 September 2026, we will assist members of the public with the drafting of a will free of charge as part of this annual initiative.

Why having a will matters

A will is more than a legal document. It is an important part of planning responsibly for the people, assets and interests that matter to you.

A properly drafted will enables you to record how you wish your assets to be dealt with after you pass away. This ability to determine the destination of your assets is the principle of freedom of testation, and it is recommended that you obtain professional assistance to ensure that a will is properly drafted and legally valid.

Without a valid will, you lose the opportunity to determine freely how your estate should be distributed. Potential consequences include assets not passing to the people you would have chosen, delays in appointing an executor, additional and unnecessary costs, and uncertainty or conflict among family members.

National Wills Week at Van Wyks Inc

During National Wills Week 2026, Van Wyks Inc will assist with the drafting of wills, free of charge.

Whether you have been putting off making your first will or have simply never taken the opportunity to put your wishes formally in writing, National Wills Week provides an ideal opportunity to attend to this important aspect of your personal affairs.

Our approach remains simple, focused and effective: understand what matters to you, provide clear legal guidance and ensure that your wishes are recorded properly. This is consistent with the firm’s broader estate-planning offering and client-focused approach.

Plan today. Protect what matters tomorrow.

Having a properly considered will in place can provide valuable certainty — both for you and for those who may one day be responsible for administering your estate.

If you do not currently have a will, we invite you to contact our us and arrange your National Wills Week consultation.
